PHOTOBOOK MAGIC with Susan Kravitz Ayer

Are your travel photos sitting in a folder on your computer? Are your family photos and archives sitting in a box in the basement? Are you looking for a better way to preserve these and share them with friends, family and future generations?
This hands-on, four-session workshop is for those who would like assistance in creating a custom photobook, using their own digital photos and more. Participants should have basic computer skills and should bring a fully-charged laptop computer that has a wireless internet connection and photo-editing software, [such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements (about $80), and Picasa (free)]. By the end of the class, participants will be ready to order their photobooks online.
Week 1: Getting started
- How to select and edit your photos
- Taking photos with intention
- Working with images that haven’t been digitized
- Preparing your digital photos for your photobook
- Introduction to photo-editing software
Week 2: Layout and Graphic Design: Using online photobook sites
- The basics of photobook design
- Uploading photos
- Working with templates and how to customize your pages
Week 3: Adding text and other non-photo elements to your photobook
- Working with text boxes, fonts, and text styles
- Utilizing other resources for text
- Including access to videos, movies and audio recordings, using QR code “stickers”
Week 4: Editing and Proofreading your photobook
- Fine-tuning your photos, text and layout
